Our Class 5 students recently participated in an exciting and meaningful hands on activity titled “Breathe In” as part of their lesson on Life Process. Using the Karkhana Kit, students explored how the human lungs function and why breathing is essential for our survival. This practical session helped them understand the concept of respiration in a clear, engaging, and enjoyable way.
The activity began with a discussion on how our body takes in oxygen and releases carbon dioxide. Students were eager to learn how this invisible process keeps us alive. To make the concept more relatable, teachers guided them in creating a simple lung model using the materials provided in the Karkhana Kit.
As the activity progressed, students built their own model that mimicked the way real lungs expand and contract. By pulling and releasing the balloon or plastic membrane, they observed how air enters and leaves the lungs. This visual demonstration helped them connect classroom theory with real biological functions.
While experimenting, students discovered how the diaphragm plays a key role in breathing and how lungs change shape as we inhale and exhale. They were amazed to see how their own model responded to movement just like actual lungs in the human body. This moment of discovery made complex scientific ideas easy to understand and remember.
The session also highlighted the importance of clean air, regular exercise, and proper breathing for a healthy life. Teachers encouraged students to reflect on everyday habits that support good respiratory health, such as avoiding dust, staying active, and practicing mindful breathing.
Throughout the activity, students worked in pairs and groups, which encouraged teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. They asked thoughtful questions, shared observations, and proudly demonstrated their working models to their classmates.
