Kathmandu, 22nd Baishakh 2082 — In a meaningful initiative that blended learning with humanity, the Grade-8 students of our school visited Manavsewa Ashram, Raniban, Kathmandu, as part of their Social Studies field visit and internal evaluation project.

Organized under the theme of caring, sharing, and social collaboration, the visit aimed to instill empathy, responsibility, and the spirit of community service among students. Packed food items including rice, pulses, beaten rice, biscuits, fruits, and dry fruits were collected and contributed by both the Grade-8 students and other generous students across the school. These items were respectfully donated to the residents of the ashram.

The ashram is divided into three distinct blocks—Laxmi Block, Narayan Block, and Balgopal Block—each housing people from different age groups and backgrounds.Laxmi Block is home to 62 residents, including 16 people aged 1 to 40 years, 23 people aged 40 to 60 years, and 23 people aged 60 and above. Narayan Block, the largest among the three, houses a total of 125 residents, consisting of 36 individuals in the 1 to 40 age group, 55 in the 40 to 60 age group, and 44 elderly residents aged 60 and above. Balgopal Block shelters the youngest members of the ashram, with 2 children aged 0 to 2 years and 3 children between 5 and 18 years, making a total of 5 children in that block.

Students were given the opportunity to interact meaningfully with residents from all three blocks, offering not just material donations but also heartfelt companionship, conversations, and respect. The joy, wisdom, and life stories shared during these interactions left a deep impact on the students, fostering a sense of compassion that cannot be taught through books alone.

Teachers accompanying the students emphasized the significance of experiential learning. “This field visit isn’t just part of the curriculum, it’s about building empathy and understanding the real meaning of community and humanity.”

Our school extends sincere thanks to all parents whose support, encouragement, and contributions played a vital role in making the visit successful and impactful.

The visit to Manavsewa Ashram stands as a beautiful reminder of the power of kindness, the importance of social responsibility, and the values we strive to nurture in our students every day.
